Slowing Down
Funny what God does when you ask him for more time. JP and I have been running ragged for the past month or so and this past week we both were just hitting a breaking point. Last night at com group the group prayed for us, asking for more time. Well when we woke up this morning Tyler was sick, this is a forced slow down, at least for one of us (that would be me this time, with JP's pending deadline). Having sick little ones is not fun for sure, but when all you do is run around all the time, to be forced to sit and just hold a little toddler as they are so pitiful is a blessing.
Cale's ears
So 2 weeks ago now we went to see the ENT due to Cale failing the hearing tests at our pediatrician's office. We were told that his hearing was very bad due to the fluid on his ears and surgery was recommended for tubes and adenoid removal. That was on a Thursday and on Saturday we were in the hospital with Cale about to have his first surgery (under general anastasia). Cale was a trooper! He watched a DVD up until the time they wheeled him back (thanks to the 'silly juice' he had no issue leaving us). The whole thing was over in less than 30 minutes and we went back to the recovery area where he was waking up. They told us he had been awake but had fallen back to sleep. He was pretty stubborn about waking up (I don't blame him, restful sleep is sure nice!). JP held him until he was awake enough to go home, then we loaded up and headed for home. We stopped at Sonic for some ice cream on the way and after that Cale seemed to be coming back to normal. That same night he voted for Chickfila for dinner (like that surprises anyone?!) so we went, his activity was pretty much back to normal. The funniest thing was his hearing, he complained about the playroom being so loud and the next morning I was giving him a bath and he again said "Mommy the water is so loud!". He has been a little different all together since the surgery, his hearing is much better, his speech is improved, he talks a lot more, and is actually a little more rambunctious!! With Tyler I think I will be a little more pushy about seeing the ENT earlier, but there was no permanent damage with Cale so all is good!

My Soccer Player
This Saturday was Cale's first soccer game ever! He is now 4 and such a big boy. We were so fortunate to be able to get Cale on a team with his friends Quade and Caden! It was so much fun to see Cale go after the ball and have such a good time. We just had one minor scare. In the first minute of the game Cale was going after the ball and got tripped up and fell. Crying, he eventually made it to the sideline and we spent 10 minutes trying to pep him up to go back into the game. I seriously thought he was done, that he would never play again. He just kept saying he was hurt (but was not really, not even scraped), he is just so sensitive. He did eventually go back in, and he did so great! I was so proud, he had so much fun :) Here are some shots! We just happened to start on picture day!

And a movie of the action!

Tyler's Birthday #1
Well, as the second child Tyler gets the short end of the stick! For Cale's first birthday we had 2 big parties. For Tyler we went to Jason's Deli and just sent an email to a few friends the day before to invite them to join us. None the less Tyler had a great first birthday, chocolate cake and all...

I can not believe he is so big (24.5lbs) and is walking and climbing enough to drive us crazy!
