THE NEW BEGINNING...
May 15, 2007

Mrs. Juanita, this is the woman who takes care of Cale, has since he was 8 weeks old. She amazes me, at her age she keeps 4 to 5 0-2 year olds at a time. She loves on Cale, Cale loves her. She will always be Nana to him. We have made the tough decision to move Cale to a local day care center at a church about a mile from our house. We think he is ready for some development activity and more structure. We would recommend Mrs. Juanita to anyone, we will miss seeing her each day.

JP has been out of town for work, Cale's uncle Chris has been teaching him how to play drums! Luckly the drums stay at Uncle Chris' house. Cale can keep a beat, must come from his dad!
On the workout front, we are ramping up to peak ironman training and I feel like I might just crack, or need some crack to continue.
Last week summary:
Monday: ride 25 mi;
Tues: run 5.3 mi;
Wed: ride 23.3 mi and swim 3000 yds;
Thurs: tempo run 5.34 mi (28 min tempo, thought I was going to die -- avg hr 166);
Friday: ride 25 mi/run 3.5 mi brick;
Sat: run 18.4 mi (2:48)
The madness has started, hope I can hang on :)
Cale's first real hair cut!
April 23, 2007

He is growing up! This is a picture of Cale at my last race April 1st in Galvaston! He has had a hair cut since then, I will have to post on that next.
As for me, April 1st I did a half Ironman race--1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike, 13.1 mi run.
Total time 5:18 (PR by 34 min:) ).
Swim was great, felt pretty easy, wore my full wetsuit, water was ~ 70 deg (34:29)
Bike was ok, Michelle passed me mid-way on the first loop, headwind going out, but tailwind coming back :) (2:48)
Run, I was ready to be done, I was able to keep the legs going pretty well, was extreamly happy with my run time. (1:53)
Good to be back into the thick of triathlon training/racing again, especially with JP and Cale cheering me on!

Christmas :) We had such a great time in Andalusia AL with JP's family! It was nice to be out of the city for a couple of days where we all (even the dogs) enjoyed the trees and wild animals and the quiet nights. I did a couple of runs there, which killed me due to the fact that they have hills there unlike in TX. Cale had a great time opening all his toys, and playing with boxes and wrapping paper! We were back in town on Thursday, time to shop and get ready for the Cotton Bowl! We had numerous visitors for the bowl game: my brother and his wife (he is an AU grad), my Dad (a Nebraska grad), JP's brother and one of his buddies (both AU grads). We all went to the game and had a wonderful, yet cold time :)
Cale is ONE!!

It has been a while, I have been a little busy with birthday/holiday parties :) Cale is one, I can't believe it! He had two birthday parties, one at our place, low key with the adults on Tues (his real birthday) and one on Saturday with all the one year old birthday chaos! We found that he is not a huge fan of cake but does ok with the icing!
