Fighting about food

As much as Cale loves to play in his play kitchen, every day is a battle about food with him. He just doesn't eat, no matter how hard we try. Today he told me that he wanted mac and cheese for lunch. He then proceeded to take one bit (actually JP fed one bite to him) and then did not want any more. It took him an hour to eat 4 apple slices. He had not had any other food all day. We were so mad that we put him in his room to take a nap directly from the table. He then pitched a fit for some juice, which we denied. It is now 4:30pm and he still has not eaten anything but a couple of apple slices today. Everyday is like this, such a struggle...

Cale and Tyler update

Sometimes I just don't realize how smart Cale has become. The other day he was looking at a piece of oatmeal squares cereal, he said "this is a square, or a diamond, it has four sides", I said "that is right Cale a square and a diamond both have four sides, he followed with "and a rectangle mom!" He has also been picking up addition with no issue and is working on subtraction. I guess I could start teaching him how to read. He says the darnedest things, yesterday on the way to school he said "hey mom, humina humina humina" like the line from Farris Bueller's day off!
I am just loving Tyler so much right now. He is sitting and wanting to crawl right now. He is a snuggler, I love that. He has started eating finger foods and would much rather feed himself than have me feed him with a spoon. He is an independent spirit and I think he looks more like me than Cale does. He has already had his first ear infection so he is like his brother in that respect unfortunately.
I love them both and they already obviously love each other very much. I am very blessed :)

Post by iphone??

Sweet, i think i figured out how to post using my iphone!
We will see if this helps me keep up. We have been doing
just fine, trying to adjust to having two kidos at home and working
full time. Tyler is super sweet, but does not sleep like Cale
did. Last night was our first night of crying it out. He went down
at 9 and woke up at 3, cried for 25 min then fell back to sleep.
Then up again at 4:15 and crying on and off until we fed him at
5:15. I am at a loss, but refuse to get up every hour starting at 3am
and put his paci back in his mouth. I don't mind if he gets up
after 5 to eat, but before that the plan right now is to let him cry.
We will see how it goes! Cale slept through it all last night :)

Random things that make me smile

In the midst of sleep deprivation and the craziness of life here is what makes me smile:
--JP's humor
--Cale asking to 'snuggle'
--Tyler smiling at me
--Friend's that love to go to dinner
--Girlfriends that are easy to know so well
--New mom's asking me for advise (as if I know anything)
--A good run
--Cale's smile
--Tyler asleep in my arms
--Being needed
--Thinking about the miracles God does for us every day
--Cale telling me he loves Tyler
--Chocolate

There are more but these stick out from the past few days :)

Professional Pictures

I had JP's brother Chris take pictures of Cale when he was little, this time I brought in an outsider to do the honors. With Cale I have pictures of him at one week old. With Tyler I was a slacker and got the shots done one day shy of his 4 week mark. It was all worth it! I love the pictures (taken by http://www.poeticexosure.com/, thanks Steve!). Here are some favorites...

Do they look alike?

Do they look alike? That is what I am asked the most. People tell me that he looks more like me where Cale looks like JP. Tyler just went in for his 4 week appointment. He got his first shot and weighed in at 10lbs and 6oz. He is actually 5oz more than Cale. Look out, here comes another big boy!
What do you think...

Sleep anyone?

Tyler has been a good baby so far, he is just over 2 weeks old. However, last night he decided he did not want to lay down. He was tired but would squeal every time we put him down in his crib. Both JP and I (JP had the 12am shift and I had the 3am shift) ended up putting him in the swing after fighting him for an hour. Is it bad to have the baby sleeping in the swing all night? At some point he needs to learn that the crib is where we sleep at night, and the swing is ok for a nap or two during the day :)

It's a Boy!

He is here! Tyler Joseph Ossenfort arrived on Friday 2/27/2009, the day after I turned 33. He was 8lbs and 20in long. I was induced Friday morning, got my epidural, was ready to go by 4:15, pushed through 4 contractions and he was here! He was born 'sunnyside up' or face up and had 2 knots in his cord, already trying to be difficult :) He has some hair which I suspect will fall out. He seems to favor more my side of the family but has some features that look like Cale (who is definately Daddy's boy). He has been eating and sleeping well and we get to take him home today. Here are some pictures... Cale is the perfect big brother and loves to hold him and get him to grab his finger. He has been a real trooper with JP and I up here at the hospital.

Been a long time

I have been on facebook for the past month or so and have not paid any attention to my blog, shame on me. These days I am not doing much of anything beyond work and family. Christmas was great but I am glad to be home and back into the old routine. At this point I am 37 weeks preg and am extremely uncomfortable. I am ready to have this one. I think with the second child you know more what to expect so you are ready to deliver earlier. I have not enjoyed being pregnant this time around, I think I did last time. My misery might be compounded by the fact that last go around I was put on relaxed bed rest at around 34 weeks, this time I am in the midst of chasing a 3 year old and going through the performance reviews and compensation for 18 employees. Cale has been so funny, he totally understands what is going on. He says stuff like, "mommy, I will put this toy in Tyler's room so when he comes he can play with it", "I will feed Tyler Joseph a bottle but daddy change his diaper", and "I can help when Tyler Joseph comes out of mommy's tummy". I laughed this past Thursday, when I picked Cale up from school, his teacher told me that Cale had told her that Baby Tyler was coming tomorrow, I told her that would be a surprise to mommy! Never the less I did finally pack a bag and throw it in the car before my dr appt on Friday just in case (hey, he told me I had a baby before I knew I was pregnant, you never know). We got a sonogram this week (since last week Tyler was sideways, not head down), he looks good now, head down, and from the measurements around 7 lbs already. No wonder I am uncomfortable! The nursery is all done, nesting has set in, all is in place for his arrival, now we just need him to come!
