Cale's first real run race!

JP and I (with Cale in the stroller) ran a 5K race back in January, once both of us were done there was a kids 1k race. Cale's friend Braden was running so we registered Cale. Cale and I ran as far as his little 2 year old legs could carry him. He did so well and loved that he had a special yellow 'nummer' just like mommy and daddy. It was a pround moment for mom :)

Silly Daddy!

When I am training (swimming, biking, and running) JP and Cale spend a lot of time together bonding. It's great until some of my sweet husbands silliness gets passed on! Got to love it.

Swimming

Swimming is a tough sport. It takes the body moving in just the right way to keep you afloat. Your head is underwater, making breathing work in itself. I have been a swimmer since Sophmore year in high school. I love to swim, I am able to relax and get a good workout in. During my triathlon career I will swim around 2-3 times a week about 3000 meters at a time (just under 2 miles in an hour) and longer when an Ironman is looming. This past Sept, after my last race of the season, I decided to take some time off of swimming. I had not swam since then until Friday. I am trying to do 30 min of cardio a day for 30 days to get re-motivated and on Friday I thought that I was ready to return to the pool for a 30 min swim. Some people think that I am super human, I am not. I felt like a 4 year old flailing around in the pool for 30 min. After 400 yards I felt like I was going to die, winded and sore. I was able to push through 30 min and a mile of swimming, but it was not pretty. I have a renewed respect for the swim :)

Growing up

Hard to believe Cale is two. I was just looking back at how he has grown. What a blessing having him has been. Having kids is tough, exhausting, and frustrating at times, and energizing, motivating, amazing, and wonderful all at the same time. It is something that I am glad God is not allowing me to miss.

Cale's real birthday

We had Cale's party on Saturday but Wednesday was his actual birthday. We normally go to Tony's on Wednesday night so we decided we would celebrate there. We brought the big gift from Grandma Sue with us for him to open. He blew out his candles with a little help and loves his new rocket from Grandma. His new favorite saying is 'notnot moon', translation astronaut goes to the moon! Got to love it!

Cale's Birthday (posting a little late :)

Cale turned 2! We had a construction zone party and invited all of his friends. He woke up that morning to 2 big trucks/loaders and then later on that afternoon we had his party. We had about 9 kids under the age of 3 decorating cupcakes! Elise won the prize for the messiest and most tasty looking cupcake. All and all it was a blast!
